After photographing Svatbata from the audience during the dress and final rehearsals, I came back during a public performance to photograph the piece from the wings.
I have always loved working from backstage. Being immersed within the performance allows me to get closer to the dancers and capture more intimate moments. Fragments of tension, breath, concentration and physicality that often disappear from a frontal perspective.
Created by Marcos Morau for the Ballet of the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Svatbata unfolds like a powerful ritual inspired by Bulgarian folklore and traditions, where celebration, trance, memory and sacrifice constantly intertwine.
